Passion and Purity

FINDING YOUR PASSION... EMBRACING YOUR PURITY

Our Mission

PASSION AND PURITY

Passion and Purity is a registered non-profit initiative and an official charitable organization, currently geared towards the training and development of individuals, especially our youth and children. The Movement, with its motto: "Finding your Passion – Embracing your Purity," is a socializing tool aimed at helping to focus the minds of the youth to the ideals of being passionate about their ambitions and embracing their purity and childhood innocence.

Passion and Purity embraces Godly principles, values and integrity and encourages a spirit of excellence in order to fulfill its mandate. We believe youth should be developed in all areas - spiritual, physical, emotional, social and intellectual. We offer help for them to identify and resist those things that are meant to sap their creative energies and prevent them from fulfilling their purpose in life.

MOTTO: ..................... “Finding your Passion, Embracing your Purity”

THEME TEXT: ....... "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example in speech, life, love, faith and in purity…. Do not neglect your gift." 1Timothy 4:12 (NIV)

CORE VALUES: ..... Purity, Integrity, Discipline, Excellence, Teamwork and Godliness.

MISSION: ......

Passion and Purity exists to help youth and children discover

and creatively express their God given passion with purity of motive, thought and action; by embracing Godly Principles presented in a variety of ways and contexts. This is done by staging empowerment seminars, conferences, workshops, camps, retreats, rallies, radio and television talk shows, concerts, hosting mentorship, discipleship, leadership training and social outreach programmes, along with other activities, in the context of the church, school, community and media.

The following themes are dealt with in several contexts:

1. Finding and Unlocking My Talents – My Passion

  • Removing the “I don’t know what I want to become” syndrome.
  • Recognizing that my talents and abilities are UNIQUE gifts from God.
  • Recognizing that I must be a good student, an agent of change, a positive contributor to society and a nation builder through my UNIQUE attributes.

2. Maintaining My Purity and Being Proud Of It

  • Destroying the myth that sex is mandatory for teenagers.
  • Reversing the violence, drugs and sex culture we have created.
  • Showing that purity of thoughts, motives and action releases creative abilities.

3. Passionately Pure and “Cool”

  • Recognizing that being passionately pure does not destroy one’s social image.
  • Being passionately pure actually makes you a trendsetter.

THE HISTORY OF PASSION AND PURITY

Andrew and Donnette Norman are the Founders and Presidents of Passion and Purity. They are eternally grateful to God for the life and work of Jim and Elizabeth Elliot, whose life experiences and work have helped to inspire this Passion and Purity Movement.

The Movement was officially launched in Jamaica during the 2008-2009 school year, with a Girls’ Conference at the host school, Wolmer’s Girls’ School. During that same year, Passion and Purity hosted a Boys’ Conference at Jamaica College, a Co-ed Conference at Manchester High School and the Children’s Conference at Wolmer’s Preparatory School under the theme “I Am a Promise.” Aspects of the Passion and Purity program are integrated in the host school’s curriculum.

.Passion and Purity has since had major conferences that were hosted by several High Schools across Jamaica including: Manchester High School, Ardenne High School, St. Hilda’s Diocesan High School, Calabar High School, the Titchfield and Port Antonio High Schools, Merl Grove High School, Wolmer’s Boys’ School, St. George’s College, Knox College, St Catherine High School, Jamaica College, Maggotty High School and the Pembroke Hall High School, We have also had numerous church events across the island.

Much credit is to be given to several persons and organizations such as: Host Principal, Mrs. Colleen Montague of the Wolmer’s High School for Girls; Mrs. Olecia Wedderburn- Christie; the Late Bishop Rennie Lyn Williams; Inter-School’s Christian Fellowship; Christian Teachers In Action and many churches across Jamaica, including some of our main host churches: Bible Teachers International, Church of God of Prophecy and First Assembly of God Mandeville. Special thanks to our advisors, many partners/endorsers, our sponsors and to our very hardworking and dedicated committee members. All mentioned are to be highly commended for the tremendous work done in the launching of Passion and Purity in Jamaica.
